Safety

Food safety is a core part of our mission at Schreiber Foods International. We ensure safety at every step in our supply chain, continually monitoring our supplier’s products and facilities through physical plant inspections, receipt and maintenance of proper plant audit documentation, and independent finished product testing via an FDA certified laboratory.

Our Schreiber Foods International team is proud to be early adopters of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), a law enacted to create more responsibility among suppliers of domestic and imported food products. Beyond regulations, we maintain our own rigorous protocols and evaluate every step in the supply chain to ensure compliance, accountability, traceability, and a safe food chain from farm to warehouse to plate.

Sourcing

Schreiber Foods International has taken a hands-on, “boots on the ground” approach to sourcing since its founding. Our teams of buyers travel the world to personally meet suppliers at their farms and factories to ensure food quality and supply chain readiness. Our suppliers must adhere to strict guidelines for product specifications, and we regularly visit and inspect supplier facilities.

To meet demand from discriminating chefs and foodservice kitchens, we do more than just source, we curate. Our team carefully selects all items in our product list, including olives, fruits, vegetables, seafood, condiments, grains, rices and other pantry favorites. We dual-source our products to maintain quality, safety, and reliable supply.

To support our customers, our purchasing department works with our suppliers to proactively identify market nuances, supply fluctuations, and the impact of weather or news events on crops. We package these insights in our Market Update so customers are informed ahead of events and can plan for contingencies, pivots, and opportunities.
